iQiyi Synopsis
This show narrates the story of how Li Xiangyi, the renowned leader of the Sentinel Sect, suffers a grave injury after a great battle, and thereafter retires from the jianghu to become Li Lianhua, a “quack healer” indifferent to both fame and fortune. After meeting a new friend, Fang Duobing, and an old enemy, Di Feisheng, he reenters the jianghu once more.
The undercurrents of the jianghu are ever in motion; doubts and suspicions swirl in increasingly tangled disarray. Only upon spinning an investigation from these knots will the truth be revealed. A heart-wrenching tale of heroism and justice that burns with righteous ardour begins here.

Notes
- I favour foreignisation as a translation method, so I’ll be attempting to preserve sentence structures and idiomatic expressions as much as possible.
- Being neither British nor American, I’ll be taking my pick of both standard Englishes as I see fit. My spelling will likely be British, however, since that’s what I grew up learning.
- I do my best to proofread my translations, but I’m only one person and there are quite literally hundreds of lines per episode, so I might slip up here and there. Feel free to send me a message/ask on Tumblr if you spot any errors!
- Footnotes can be found under the video file for each episode.
- The addendum pages contain:
- Introductory explanations to cultural traditions and language
- A glossary of terms used, location names, and titles (and some meta wherever relevant)
- Explanations of my various translation choices
- Any spoilers will be hidden under a toggle.
